Acer Aspire GG64Mn - External Reviews

Keyboard and Touchpad The Aspire uses a floating island-style keyboard that is comfortable to type on but causes a few hang-ups when trying to type quickly. I got used to it after a few hours and learned to lift my finger fully off the key before sliding to the next key in my typing motion. The keyboard layout takes advantage of the chassis and offers a four-key wide number pad with room to spare on each side. One thing missing from the keyboard layout is quick-access media keys. Instead this notebook has quick-access buttons for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, backup software, and a customizable program launch. The touchpad on this notebook is an ALPS design model with a spacious layout and multitouch gesture support. The touchpad is quick to respond, but we did notice just a hair of lag in fast gestures. Refresh times are great which helps prevent a choppy Acer Aspire 7740G VGA movement when moving around.

Sensitivity out of the box was good but not perfect, and no adjustment for sensitivity was found in the ALPS control menu. We were hoping to find eSATA for faster external storage expansion, but it was probably left out to keep the price low. Lifting the notebook on one side Acer Aspire 7740G VGA the base unit does not however cause any of the plastic case to warp. The Contrary to its smaller brother, the G makes due without a latching closed mechanism.

The display nevertheless stays closed, although care should be taken when transporting the notebook, so that the display is not exposed to damage. Small objects could get in between the display and the top of the base unit, and potentially lead to scratches.

A transport bag or sleeve is definitely to be recommended in this case, Acer Aspire 7740G VGA just for the reason already mentioned, but also because of the glossy blue and reflective back of the display lid. The same glossy blue reflective surface is found on the display frame, which makes for a more attractive appearance, but only as long as the surface remains free of finger prints. Thus these surfaces are very care intensive.

The hand resting area is kept in a dark gray, as is the Touchpad, which optically fits very well to the rest of the design of the notebook. One negative aspect, which already came to our attention on the Aspire G, is that we found Acer Aspire 7740G VGA maximum opening angle of the display to be a little too small. For normal use this should however not pose any problems.

Connectivity Unfortunately the Aspire G not only inherited the strengths of the Aspire G, but Acer Aspire 7740G VGA the weaknesses. So once again the majority of the important connection interfaces are located on the left side of the notebook. Having multiple tangled cables is therefore almost unavoidable; should the user wish to have the power cable connected, as well as using the LAN interface, and possibly using an external monitor, while listening to the audio with a stereo system.

The back of the Aspire G is not much more spectacular, which merely has a ventilation opening. Firstly, the base unit vibrates when the lid is opened. When travelling, the lid tends to vibrate noticeably. However, the lid does open to the above average degree of Acer Aspire 7740G VGA As a mobile companion, the TravelMate G is anything but dainty weighing 2.
